Why the hell can't I find a cute top in size 18?

Long story short: I've got a wedding next weekend to go to. In my usual way of overthinking things and procrastinating until the last minute, I've now worked myself up into a fit of grumpiness about finding a top to go with a really cute crushed velvet skirt from Lane Bryant.

The thing is that thanks to several weddings last year and now this year, I'm trying to build up some dressy pieces so I have items to fall back on to look fabulous and cute. This time around I'm hampered by a bunch of different things:

1. I am seeking something with long sleeves because I'm going to a winter wedding. Said item also needs to have some glamour to it. Keeping warm and looking good apparently are two exclusive things in the Midwest.

2. It needs to go with said skirt, but also be versatile for other items.

Sounds simple right? Wrong. The best I could come up with is this, but I'll be damned if I pay for second day shipping on top of the overall cost of the shirt. That's more than the skirt.

I know, I know. I'm a cheap bastard.

But I noticed something as I was shopping a lot of the plus-sized Web sites -- they really like loud patterns and tops that look like tunics. Maybe it's the most flattering sort of thing for a lot of larger people, but I can't help but feel like Three's Company's Mrs. Roper in those outfits. Whatever happened to something sweet, sexy and a size 18?

Anyways, I'm going shopping with Katie tomorrow, so hopefully something will be found. I just don't want it to turn into another one of these situations.

I know this is late but did you try the store called the avenue? or Catherines or Ashley Stuart? They have cute stuff at Ashley Stuart and rainbow for women. Lane Bryant kinda sucks to me. I haven't shopped there in ages. Hope this helps ya.

Thanks for the tips. I've never been to those stores and I don't know if they're in the Madtown area. I've had good luck in Chicago's Vive La Femme and ordering stuff online.

But with the weekend coming up, I was in a bit of a pinch.
