Cowboys and pudding!

So Brokeback Mountain is finally coming to Madison. Admittedly, I'm debating about whether or not I really want to see this movie. The pluses are that it's an Ang Lee film that's gotten critical raves.

I loves me some Ang Lee. I love Eat Drink Man Woman and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. While I thought that the Wedding Banquet was a little long, it still was pretty good. I wouldn't watch Hulk, but that's because Lee's strengths -- thoughtfulness, stillness and contemplation -- aren't good for normal popcorn action flicks.

No, the reason why I'm not sure about the movie is because I've already read the story and know how depressing it is. I mean, the story had me nearly sobbing when I read it and every time I think of it I start tearing up. Therefore, what will happen if I see the movie? I'm going to need sponges strapped underneath my eyes (to quote Jeff).

Admittedly, I'm more curious to see Breakfast on Pluto, based on the storyline and reviews. But it looks like Brokeback's got everyone's attention as the gay movie of the year.

You know I still haven't gotten around to seeing Brokeback Mountain? Gotta do it soon, before Oscar time, I guess.

Breakfast on Pluto's been getting very mixed reviews, so that looks like a renter for me.

The gay movie of the year wasFantastic Four, if you ask me Julian McMahon seemed way more into Ioan Gruffudd than Jessica Alba. As well he should be.
