It's been quiet....too quiet

I know I haven't been posting as much as I used to, but I've got a good excuse: I suddenly have a social life.

I'm doing a live-action role-playing (LARP) event in October that centers on building Frankenstein's monster. For those of you who don't know what LARPing is -- think of it this way:

You remember when you were a kid and you'd run around in your Superman or Wonder Woman underroos thinking that you were the superhero. Apply that to adults and you've got the basic thing. There's goals to be fulfilled and other stuff like that.

Anyways, because the time period is the Napoleonic era, Katie, Eva, Kat and I have been making costumes for the event. Basically my life has been work, going to Katie's to cut fabric and sew and go home and go to bed.

Like I said, I've been busy. Costuming can be intense work. The cook thing is being able to spend time with a bunch of people I don't normally see a lot. It's all paying off really -- the costumes are looking great and I'm looking forward to doing the pregnancy walk in my dress. Empire style dresses are far from flattering and they make EVERYONE look preggers.

Other than that, I managed to see Shaun of the Dead this week. It was funny as hell -- there's an Evil Dead/Bruce Campbell shout-out as well as a 28 Days Later one. I highly recommend it if you can stand zombie movies. If you can't, you might be cringing too much. But the humor may override that. There's nothing to be ashamed of hiding behind your seat in the gory parts.

LARP sounds like so much fun! Being the Jane Austen nut that I am, I would snag any excuse to put on an empire dress.

I really want to see "Shaun of the Dead", but first I need a viewing partner strong enough to put up with my incessant whimpering and pre-emptive screams. I don't do zombie movies well.

Amanda -- LARPing can be kinda cool, but it helps to have friends. I'm a little nervous about this because i haven't done it in awhile. As for the costumes, I'm OK with the Empire style, but not crazy about it.

Keidra -- Talk to me after Halloween. Right now I've got Jeff and my costume from Hero and they're doing Teen Titans and we're all stiched out.
