Actually, things haven't been so bad around here for the past couple of days. Other than a screaming fit that BD had last night because she didn't like the Huggies newborn diapers (they did leave red elastic marks on her skin), that resulted in Jeff feeding her a bottle as I turned on a hair dryer to both dry out a swaddle sack and calm her down, things are going relatively alright for now.
Who knew that a hair dryer could calm a baby down? It was amazing -- she was on 11 and then suddenly, the sweet, blissful sound of silence. Now that I know this, I can use my power for good -- instead of taming and creating an army of babies to do my whim with a Conair hair dryer.
I've also learned that she's a noisy sleeper. She shrieks, groans and also makes noises like an elephant while she sleeps. I know most people have their babies share their bedroom in the beginning to make the midnight feedings easier. We moved her to her room and she sleeps in her crib. The first night she stayed in our room, neither Jeff or I slept because of all the noise she made:
BD: "SHRIEK!"
Me: *bolting upright and whipping the nursing bra off* "Wha? Where do I shove the nipple?"
It's hard to believe it's been roughly a month since she entered my life. I always said I liked chaos, and now that's being put to the test. So far, I think it's going alright. But that doesn't mean that I'm not looking forward to getting a couple of hours by myself and leaving Jeff with the girl. Maybe I'll even come home after going out. Kidding!

LOL. Hairdryer. Never thought of that one.
If it makes you feel better about having BD in her room instead of yours, a friend of mine told me that when she was a baby, she was so colichy and would cry so much at night, so loudly, that her parents actually put her out in the garage so they couldnt hear her. They said there was nothing they could do to make her stop crying, and they really needed the sleep!
