Now that it's dark when I drive to and from work, it's hard for me to ignore the new LED billboard along the Beltline. The billboard, which you can't miss in the dark flashes different ads every 5 seconds or so.
I don't know what to think about it. While it seems to be the natural extention of adversiting -- I remember seeing the tri-fold billboards which would flip every few seconds for different ads -- I can't help but feel a bit crochety when I see it.
Part of it could be that when I saw it, I kept expecting to see something futuristic, like Eve Online's Quafe soft drink, which is so dangerous, you don't hold a company responsible for your safety when you open the can, or something from Futurama such as Slurm or Bachelor Chow.
I guess my point is that when I envisioned the future, I didn't imagine WJJO or the local jewelry store being part of it.
